The WBCA mourns the loss of one Wisconsin high school and American Legion legendary coach when Pete Swanson died suddenly at the age of 75 this past late July.
Pete was a true baseball lifer who kept coaching because of the love of the game and the love of the boys he shaped into young men during the past half-century.
His influence in the game extended beyond Viroqua throughout the entire state where he was seen at every WBCA convention every February.
He was one of my favorite baseball men. Though you knew you were speaking to a legend, his easy manner and friendly spirit made you feel like he was a close friend.
The WBCA offers condolences to Pete's wife, three daughters, extended family, to the Viroqua community, and to ourselves. We lost a great one.
